Growing Up Potter (kcaB kooL A)
(July 2011 // Nerds in Babeland)

So I wrote this post about what a Harry Potter nerd I am and how sad I was that the franchise was basically over and then nobody read it. And then lots of people read it. It was like magic! Except for the world of Harry Potter doesn’t have the internet which is too bad because it would’ve made a lot of things simpler. (Link.)

Angel’s (Decidedly Massive) 2011 Oscar Post
(February 2011 // Nerds in Babeland)

Every year I watch every single nominee for the Best Picture Oscar.  Every year I decide I want a certain movie to win.  Every year it loses.  Every year I try it again with renewed hopes.  Every year I continue to be wrong.  Actually the worst part is, I am usually capable of figuring out which one will win, it just never happens to be in line with the one that I think deserves to win.  This year, of course, was no exception. Still, I now officially think of people as either Social Network people or King’s Speech people. (Link.)

5 Tips for the Aspiring 18th-Century Vampire Hunter
(October 2010 // Nerds in Babeland)

I took a class on vampire and werewolf folklore and mythology. Apart from the fact that it was amazing in all possible ways, I learned an impossible amount of information about vampires that I didn’t know before. As such, it seemed like I should share the knowledge so that people who were dealing with 18th-century (or prior) vampire infestations would know how to deal with them. It’s kind of written as a Cosmopolitan article, except about, you know, hunting vampires with old-fashioned tips. For example, vampires are known to be arithmomaniacs, so you can distract them by throwing something at them huge in number, forcing them to count it/organize it/pick it up. There’s a ton of vampire lore that involves people getting away by throwing seeds at vampires, or my personal favorite, throwing messed-up linen at them that they compulsively have to weave back into proper form before they can pursue the hero of the story again. The Serial Killer Experience: Part 1 & Part 2
(October 2010 // Nerds in Babeland)

This is the article for that Dexter ARG I was telling you about before (actually…I guess it’s below this…but chronologically I wrote it before this). This time, however, the game was over. You might call it a review. But mostly I’d call it “an overview with lots of feelings written in and some pictures.” So some kind of review/recap/thinky-feely post/objective evaluation of certain elements of the game. That’s probably why it’s a two-parter. (Links: Part 1 // Part 2.)

“Dexter” Season 5 Viral Launched via SDCC
(August 2010 // MovieViral)

MovieViral loves to cover viral stuff and this happened to be something that I knew a lot about, so I covered the Dexter ARG for them a couple of weeks into the game. Ah yes, that was when you could reasonably list all the in-game websites in a blog post. I’m going to be honest: I’m mostly including this here so I can be like, “Look how many websites I’ve written for!” Yeah, I’m ballin’! Although I don’t think I can be if I actually include an apostrophe when I drop the G in “ballin’” but I’m not sure. (Link.)

A Eulogy for Heroes
(May 2010 // Canted Magazine)

I know not many people were upset by the end of season 4 about the death of Heroes but I WAS. So someone asked me, the last remaining Heroes fan on the planet, to write a eulogy for its passing. I was literal though.. I actually really loved season 4, and what I said when the screen went dark after the season finale (which turned out to be the series finale) was “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.” Sometimes I still wonder what the hell Sylar and the lesser mortals are up to. Mostly Sylar though. (Link.)
